Frequently Asked Questions

Many people have asked me these same questions over the years

With such a diverse background, military, engineering, aviation, and now farming, what connects it all together?

The common thread in everything I’ve done is service and leadership. Whether leading soldiers in Special Forces, managing multi-billion-dollar projects, mentoring student pilots, or building a farm to feed communities, my mission has always been to create impact that lasts beyond myself. Each chapter may look different, but together they form one purpose: using my skills to build, serve, and inspire.

What makes you better than other project engineers?

I bring a rare combination of technical expertise, leadership under pressure, and multi-disciplinary experience. With over 25 years leading 600+ complex infrastructure projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Department of Defense, I’ve proven my ability to deliver results in high-stakes environments. Beyond engineering, my aviation, IT, and entrepreneurial background give me a broader perspective on problem-solving, efficiency, and innovation, allowing me to approach projects with precision, adaptability, and vision.

Why should we choose you over other candidates?

bring a rare blend of technical expertise, leadership under pressure, and multidisciplinary experience. Few candidates have led military and federal engineering projects, trained pilots, and built businesses. I deliver results consistently, think strategically, and inspire teams to perform at their best.

Tell us about yourself?

I am a U.S. Army veteran, structural engineer, and Certified Flight Instructor with over 25 years of experience delivering complex infrastructure projects worldwide. I’ve managed more than 600 projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Department of Defense, directed multi-national teams, and overseen multi-billion-dollar programs. After retiring from federal service, I pursued my passion for aviation, became a commercial pilot and instructor, and am now building Katcoot Chicken Farm, a sustainable agribusiness. Across all these roles, my focus has been leadership, precision, and service.

Can you give an example of a challenging project you led and how you handled it?

While serving with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, I managed reconstruction efforts in the Middle East, where resources were limited and risks were high. I coordinated multi-national teams, balanced security constraints, and kept projects on schedule despite constant challenges. The result was the successful delivery of critical infrastructure that directly improved local communities. This taught me the importance of adaptability, clear communication, and leading by example.

What leadership qualities do you bring?

I lead by example, with integrity, accountability, and transparency at the core. I believe in empowering teams by building trust, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment where everyone contributes to success. My leadership style has been recognized through both military honors and civilian achievements, but most importantly, through the respect of the people I’ve led.

Why should we pick you over other individuals?

You should pick me because I bring more than just qualifications — I bring proven results. With decades of experience in military, engineering, aviation, and leadership, I know how to deliver under pressure, manage complex projects, and inspire teams to perform at their best. My track record of completing over 600 large-scale projects and my ability to bridge technical expertise with real-world problem-solving set me apart as someone who doesn’t just meet expectations, but exceeds them.

What is your biggest weakness?

I tend to take on too much responsibility myself. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of delegation and trust, empowering my team instead of carrying everything alone. This shift has made me a stronger and more effective leader.

How do you motivate and lead teams?

I lead by example, through integrity, accountability, and clear communication. I set high expectations but also provide support and mentorship. I believe in empowering individuals to grow, which builds both trust and long-term success.

What role does technology play in your work?

Technology is essential. From IT systems and cloud computing to AI and aviation software, I leverage tech to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and make smarter decisions. My IT certifications allow me to bridge technical knowledge with project execution.

Tell me about your aviation career.

After retiring from federal service, I pursued aviation, earning my commercial pilot license and becoming a Certified Flight Instructor. With over 200 flight hours, I now mentor new pilots, focusing on safety, precision, and professional development.

What does leadership mean to you?

Leadership means service, accountability, and vision. It’s not about authority—it’s about guiding others, building trust, and creating conditions where teams succeed even in the toughest environments.
